Explore the Outdoors at Mill Grove

Mill Grove Estate

The 200+ acre Mill Grove estate contains five miles of marked nature trails along the Perkiomen Creek for anyone to enjoy. Visit any day from dawn to dusk - and bring your binoculars to spot more than 175 species of birds that frequent the property. Trails maps are available at the front desk of the new Center or you can download them below.

Please keep in mind NO DOGS are allowed on the hiking trails throughout the property in order to protect wildlife and nesting birds, and especially not allowed near our resident birds as it stresses them out. Dogs are only permitted on the paved Audubon Loop which follows the perimeter of the park. We will kindly ask all visitors we see with dogs on site to move them to the Audubon Loop.

Outdoor Programs

Join in on free Saturday morning bird tours with Audubon Mid-Atlantic and Valley Forge Audubon Society on the third Saturday of every month March through October. These bird tours are a fun way to enjoy nature, while learning about birds and what you can do to protect them. Visit our events page here for more information on these and other programs.

Feathered Friends

While walking the ground of Mill Grove, don't forget to say hello to our Resident Birds in their home next to the historic barn. As avian ambassadors, these non-releasable wild birds have been trained to help educate people about their natural history and issues birds are facing today.

Temporary Features

Don't miss our featured installation "Braided Meadows" on the John James Audubon Center grounds.
