Noah – Male Great Horned Owl
(also known as the Tiger Owl)
Scientific name: Bubo virginianus
Born in March 2013.
Was found as an owlet on the roadside and raised with a surrogate parent in rehab. Attempted to release him twice but he returned to their farm. Named in honor of the Aark Rescue and Rehab.
Vet sees some cloudy scarring in the right eye which could be the result of head trauma or scarred from hatching.
Came to JJAC in Oct 2013.
Weighs about 3.9 lbs. Wingspan of 48 inches.
Diet here consists of about 6 mice daily, but in the wild will feed on rodents, birds and owls, bats, snakes and skunks.
