Monday, November 27, 2017 - Tuesday, April 3, 2018
The John James Audubon Center is currently closed to the public and will reopen on Tuesday, April 3, 2018. During this period the whole property is closed to the public including buildings, parking lots, and all roadways; however, the Audubon Loop (part of the Montgomery County Multi-Use Trail) will remain open to pedestrians and bicyclists weather permitting.
This temporary closure is intended to keep the public safe during a period of heavy construction on our new 18,000 square foot visitor center. The single story building, which will house the County’s world-class collection of John James Audubon art along with interactive exhibits celebrating birds, is scheduled to open in the Spring of 2019.
The mission of the John James Audubon Center at Mill Grove is to educate and inspire people to cherish and protect the natural world, by preserving Audubon’s artistic, scientific, and historic legacy and celebrating the conservation movement he inspired while serving the mission of the National Audubon Society (NAS), “to conserve and restore natural ecosystems, focusing on birds, other wildlife, and their habitats for the benefit of humanity and the earth’s biological diversity.”
